This Polar Bear Lives in a Mall in China
Animal rights activists are demanding that a Chinese shopping center end the cramped captivity of a polar bear named Pizza. The bear is confined to a small display in the city of Guangzhou.
The activists say the polar bear named Pizza is part of a disturbing trend in China: malls that exhibit animals in cramped conditions in hopes of attracting more shoppers, as cheaper e-commerce grows in clout and mall owners worry shopper numbers are dropping. The animals are collateral damage, the activists say.
