Patients Die in India Hospital Fire
A fire on Monday at a hospital in eastern India filled the wards with smoke and killed at least 20 patients, who are believed to have died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) CHIEF SECRETARY OF INDIA’S EASTERN ODISHA STATE, ADITYA PRASAD PADHI, SAYING:“Nineteen people have been confirmed to be dead. We have received 19 bodies in two hospitals.”(SOUNDBITE) (English) REVENUE DIVISIONAL COMMISSIONER (CENTRAL), AKHILA BIHARI OTA, SAYING:“Right now there are 100 odd people who are getting treated at various hospitals in Bhubaneswar. We are trying to that see, you know, that best of treatment is provided to the people who have been admitted and we hope that nothing wrong further happens to those who are admitted.”
