President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines scorned President Obama and said he would reconsider his foreign policy with his country’s closest ally.
(SOUNDBITE) (Filipino/English) PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT, RODRIGO DUTERTE, SAYING: “Instead of helping us, the first to hit back was the State Department, so you can go to hell. Mister Obama, you can go to hell. EU (European Union) better choose purgatory because hell is full.” 13. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT, RODRIGO DUTERTE, SAYING: “If this is what happens now, I will be reconfiguring my foreign policy. Eventually I might, in my time, I will break up with America. I would rather go to Russia and to China. At least even if we do not agree with the ideology, they have respect for the people.”
