Manny Pacquiao Responds to Nike
Manny Pacquiao, the Philippine politician and former boxer, responded with indifference to the news that Nike has dropped its sponsorship. He also defended his comments about the L.G.B.T. community.
3. SOUNDBITE (Tagalog) Manny Pacquiao, boxer:“Actually Nike, whatever decision they made, that is their decision and I respect that. Their sponsorship to me is that they just provide me with clothing during my fight. Our contract has already ended aside from sponsoring the boxing (clothes).”//“I am not really bothered with that (controversy). I am happier because I am telling the truth. It is worse if we hide the truth, I am happier because a lot of people were alarmed about the truth.”//7. SOUNDBITE (Tagalog/English) Manny Pacquiao, boxer:“Of course I am against same-sex marriage but I am not condemning, I just want to clarify. I am not condemning the LGBT (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual and Transgender). What I am condemning is the (sexual) act.”
